I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like Nutella. Its delicious. Creamy, rich, nutty, there is nothing better. Which is why this is the perfect twist to add to a classic brownie. This recipe is more of a baking hack than a recipe. I shortcut the time and ingredients by using a box mix. Don’t get me wrong, handmade brownies are delicious, but this is for folks who don’t have that kind of time and want to be a little more unique.
To get the nutella from melting too much into the brownie, I spread out the nutella to the size of the pan and then froze it. However by freezing it, you need to allot a few hours ahead of time to wait for it to freeze. Fun fact, nutella doesn’t exactly harden as much as regular chocolate does. This is because there is a lot of cream and therefore fat added so it doesn’t bond as firmly. However by freezing the nutella you reduce the chances that this will melt down and make the brownies too soggy. Every little bit helps. After baking you can see there is still some saturation into the brownie mix. But not enough to make it soggy. For this reason, I also recommend looking for a more cake-like brownie mix, something without fudge. Otherwise it will be too soggy and rich. Nutella is the star of this show, it doesn’t want to complete with fudge.
