As I was searching for low calorie meals for meal prep I came across this variation to spice up some ground turkey. Ground turkey is an incredibly lean protein, meaning less calories for the amount of protein. Which is why its popular for calorie counting and for low calorie meal prep. However, it is also notoriously dry and flavorless on its own. What ground turkey really needs is some spice, flavor and juice to bring it back to life. This is why this is THE perfect ground turkey recipe. The spices amp up the flavor, while the apple and onion give it some much needed moisture. The apples also give it a good amount of fiber to keep your stomach full and happy. This Apple and Turkey Picadillo is a great low calorie, and nutritionally balanced option for an every day meal. It also freezes well which is perfect for meal prep. Top it off with some scallion for some additional color, flavor and zing.
