Apple Cider Chicken Wings

Spread the love

I had some apple cider left over from my over zealous fall farm purchases and thought Id incorporate it into another fall favorite, Wings!!

This is a festive take on traditional tailgating favorite! The glaze is flavorful but not overpowering. So if you choose to spice it up, the flavors won’t clash like the teams on the field.

One tip, Do yourself a favor and buy chicken wings that have already been separated. Because yes, they do indeed sell chicken wings where the entire wing is connected and you will have to separate (butcher) the drums from the flats yourself. Yuck, lets leave that to the experts

Ingredients

  • 1 TBSP extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 1/2 lbs split chicken wings
  • 1 TBSP hot smoked paprika
  • Sprinkle of Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 TBSP cold unsalted butter
  • Garnish with apple slices

Instructions

  • Brush 2 baking sheets with olive oil, and preheat the oven to 450˚.
  • Toss the wings in a large bowl with the paprika, and Salt and Pepper to taste. Divide the wings between the two baking sheets; space them out as much as possible. Cook until the wings are crisp and golden, about 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine the cider, apple cider vinegar and the Worcestershire sauce in a small saucepan. Simmer on Medium until it reduces to ½ cup, about 12 minutes. Whisk in the butter.
  • Once the wings are done, combine all the wings on one baking sheet and turn on the broiler. Brush the wings with half of the cider sauce and broil until glazed, 1 to 2 minutes. Flip and broil 1 more minute.
  • Garnish with apples.
